I Love Aikido!

A bit of history about misogi training here in Jacksonville. In 2000, Dee Sensei introduced the idea of an annual “cleansing class” after speaking with Bob Zimmerman Sensei. Although a traditional form of training, Dee had her own definite ideas about the practice. It was her thinking, fifteen years ago, that laid the groundwork for the type of misogi we all now experience.

The first misogi locally was held at the Jewish Community Alliance on San Jose. Although organized by Dee, Mike Sands Sensei taught the inaugural class. Mike also had experience with misogi training, during his time with Lorraine DiAnne Sensei, herself a student of T.K. Chiba Sensei.

Our thanks to Grady Lane Sensei, Karen, and Charles for training with us yesterday.

And now, pictures!
